Earning her Ph.D. before the age of 30, Sandy is a strong advocate for education
for women especially those coming from developing or third-world countries. She
believes that with education, comes knowledge, empowerment, independence, and
self-sufficiency. Operating in a male-dominated industry (be it academia, information
systems, or just consultancy), Sandy believes that we could all benefit from the
knowledge and experience shared by women who came a long way to gain a level
of achievement in whatever field they work in.
With that in sight, plus the fact that it is not a breeze for any young, Asian lady to be living by themselves in a country like Australia, away from their home country and family, Sandy founded the Young Independent Network for Girls (Y.I.N.G) group in Western Australia since 2008. This support group aims to provide a networking platform for any young woman to share opportunities, celebrate our unique culture, and foster peer-to-peer support in Australia while having a great time promoting causes such as business establishment for young women entrepreneurs, sex education, relationship & dating forums, Chinese cultural events, and fundraising for emergency events.
